Lititz Christian School is seeking a Full-Time Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. This individual will create a nurturing, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment where young children develop foundational skills in early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional growth.
This position follows the K–12 academic calendar and is designed as a school-readiness program (not a childcare program). Instruction will be developmentally appropriate, hands-on, and aligned with the Pennsylvania Department of Education Early Learning Standards for Pre-K. A strong emphasis is placed on fostering a positive classroom culture rooted in a biblical worldview and supporting the whole child, academically, socially, and spiritually.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based, and biblically- integrated learning experiences that support growth in early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
- Foster pre-literacy skills, including phonological awareness, vocabulary development, listening comprehension, and print awareness.
- Support emergent writing through fine motor development, drawing, tracing, and name recognition.
- Build early numeracy skills, including counting, number sense, patterns, sorting, and shape recognition.
- Facilitate learning through hands-on exploration, guided play, learning centers, and small-group instruction, rather than primarily whole-group instruction.
- Create a warm, safe, structured classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, cooperation, and a love of learning.
- Support students in developing social-emotional and self-regulation skills, including sharing, transitions, and classroom routines.
- Use observation-based assessment and developmental tools to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Maintain ongoing, clear communication with parents regarding their child’s developmental growth and school readiness.
- Collaborate with kindergarten teacher, assistants, and faculty to ensure alignment and continuity into kindergarten readiness expectations.
- Integrate biblical principles throughout instruction and model Christ-like behavior in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and actively participates in a local church, supporting the mission and values of the school and integrating a biblical worldview into teaching.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Early Childhood preferred).
- Experience working with children ages 3–5 in a classroom setting, preferably in a Christian school environment.
- Understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Familiarity with or willingness to align instruction with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.
- A passion for Christian education and a strong commitment to integrating faith and learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a structured, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports young learners’ developmental needs.
