Lititz Christian School is seeking a Full-Time Secondary English Teacher to join our team. This individual will create an engaging, Christ-centered learning environment where students develop strong skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication.
Instruction will be aligned with the Pennsylvania Department of Education State Standards and designed to challenge students through thoughtful analysis of literature, effective writing practices, and meaningful discussion. A strong emphasis is placed on cultivating a classroom culture rooted in a biblical worldview while encouraging students to think deeply, communicate clearly, and engage with content from a Christian perspective.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement engaging, rigorous, and biblically integrated lesson plans aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards for English Language Arts.
- Design student-centered learning experiences that promote critical thinking, discussion, collaboration, and independent analysis.
- Teach a range of English courses, which may include literature, composition, grammar, and writing, as well as potential dual credit coursework and elective options.
- Facilitate thought-provoking discussions and inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to analyze texts and articulate ideas effectively.
- Provide instruction in analytical, narrative and argumentative writing, helping students develop clarity, structure, content, focus and voice.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, including essays, projects, presentations, and exams.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth in reading and writing.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and performance.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment across grade levels and support student success.
- Integrate biblical principles into course content and classroom discussions, modeling Christ-like character in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and actively participates in a local church, supporting the mission and values of the school and integrating a biblical worldview into teaching.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with Secondary English Certification (required).
- Willingness to obtain Association of Christian School International certification
- Master’s degree in English or a related content area is preferable but not required (especially for teaching dual credit courses).
- Experience teaching secondary English students in a classroom setting preferred.
- Well versed in the use of classroom technology
- Strong knowledge of literature, writing instruction, and English Language Arts pedagogy.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania Academic Standards for English Language Arts.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, student-led, and discussion-driven lessons.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to be part of a team and invest in student lives
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a structured, respectful learning environment.
